The Forte Story

Our family story

Over a century ago, our family made the journey from the village of Monforte in Italy to the bustling streets of Scotland, before eventually settling in the seaside town of Weston-super-Mare, a town that would come to hold a special place in our hearts and our history.

It was here that my great-grandfather, Alessandro Forte, and his brothers began what would become a lasting legacy. What started as a bold venture by a group of young, determined men soon became part of the fabric of the local community.

Their passion, craftsmanship and commitment to quality brought joy to generations, turning simple scoops of gelato into cherished memories for both locals and visitors.

The parlour became a familiar sight on the seafront a place where moments were shared and memories made.

Many still fondly remember Forte’s Knickerbocker Glory or the iconic pineapple ice cream that remained a favourite for decades.

At its height, Forte’s proudly ran three parlours across Weston.

Although the last parlour closed its doors over 40 years ago, its memory has never faded. Today, we are proud to bring Forte’s Gelato back to Weston. This isn’t just gelato it’s a celebration of our heritage, our flavours, and our family.

Our approach to gelato has evolved, but the principles remain the same: small batches, exceptional ingredients, and a deep dedication to flavour.

Thank you for being part of this new chapter. We invite you to enjoy every scoop and become part of the continuing story of Forte’s Gelato.

From the hills of Monforte to the streets of Scotland, and finally, the sea side town of Weston-Super-Mare
